You see it absolutely everywhere online – the market is horridly saturated with resale rights products. E-books, software, time shares, even miscellaneous products from wholesalers are now all over the Internet. Eventually you have got to wonder, what kind of profit there is left to be made online? And quite frankly, unless you are some super guru marketer – there is none.
The only people who will eat this stuff alive are people who are not already over-exposed to it, and the best place to find those people is anywhere but the Internet. It may cut into your profits just a little bit, but distributing your resale rights products the old fashioned way is probably the smartest thing you could do for your business. Not only that, but it gets you away from that computer.
The bad news is, you will need to learn how to market yourself to real live people. The good news is, practice makes perfect – and resale rights products are a new and untapped market in the “mundane” world. Most of the businesses you will find in person do not spend much time online, which means they may well have that same excitement you first had for resale rights products and snag it right up.
First you will need to mass produce your digital format products into something a little more solid. Probably the cheapest way to do this is with a CD burner and labeler, with a few gem cases and stands. Then go out to a flea market and either sell it yourself or offer your products to the vendors already there so you don't have to sit there all day.
Your next stop would be small time retailers. Just park your car in a commercial district and walk up and down the sidewalk. If the owner isn't there, ask when they would be in or get a card and call back later. Don't neglect the roadside vendors. Mall kiosks are always looking for new merchandise too.
Another great resource is used books and record stores. They are usually pretty good for audio books on CD, or printed out e-books. Plus they are more likely to pay full price. Last but not least, go into consignment stores with a display case for your resale rights products. If they sell well, they just might pay you up front for each new shipment after your first.
